This Privacy Policy explains how Techion LLC ("Techion," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you use the Techion iOS application, techion.dev, and related pages or services (collectively, the "Services").
Techion is primarily a client for a Technitium DNS Server that you choose and control. Core server traffic ordinarily travels directly between your device and that server, not through Techion's analytics service.
Techion LLC is responsible for personal information that Techion determines how and why to process, including information processed through Techion Analytics and the Techion website. The operator of your Technitium DNS Server, your DNS providers, Apple, and other third parties are separately responsible for information they process under their own terms and privacy practices.
This Policy does not govern a Technitium DNS Server merely because you access it through Techion. If you use Techion for an employer, customer, or other organization, that organization may control the server data you access and may have its own privacy obligations.
The app processes information you provide or request in order to connect to and administer your configured server. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
This information is generally processed on your device and sent directly to the server address you configure, rather than through Techion's analytics service. Credentials and authentication tokens are kept in protected device storage. Saved-server records, preferences, and other app state are stored locally. Some protected credentials or cloud-stored files may remain after the app is removed unless they are separately deleted.
Your server is your responsibility. Techion does not control your Technitium server, its hosting provider, its upstream DNS services, or their logging and retention practices. If you permit insecure TLS or use an unencrypted connection, information may be exposed in transit.
While Techion Analytics is enabled, the app records limited usage information locally and compiles it into cumulative daily summaries. Techion Analytics contains aggregate summaries rather than raw event tracking, and does not maintain or transmit a raw analytics event stream. Summaries may include:
Each upload includes a persistent pseudonymous installation identifier. The identifier is not your Apple ID, server account, email address, advertising identifier, or authentication credential.
Techion Analytics does not include DNS queries or other server content, domain names, server addresses or URLs, usernames, passwords, API tokens, search terms or history, blocking or allow-list data, server configuration, backup contents, raw requests, raw error messages, raw analytics events, or client event, request, or session timestamps.
Analytics payloads do not contain IP-address fields. As with any internet request, Techion's hosting and network infrastructure may nevertheless process ordinary connection metadata, such as an IP address, protocol information, and request time, to deliver and protect the service.
When no preference has previously been saved, Techion Analytics is disabled. After setup, Techion asks you to choose “Allow” or “Don't Allow,” and you may change your analytics setting later in Privacy & Security.
Choosing “Don't Allow” disables future collection and newly initiated uploads, resets the app's analytics store and local analytics identifier, and requests deletion of associated Techion analytics data. If the deletion request cannot be completed immediately, it may be queued and retried automatically. Choosing “Allow” leaves analytics enabled.
Turning analytics off later stops future collection and newly initiated uploads but does not itself request remote deletion or erase local summaries or records already received by Techion. An upload already in progress may still complete.
The in-app "Reset Analytics Data" control resets the app's analytics store and local analytics identifier and requests deletion of associated Techion analytics data. If the request cannot be completed immediately, it may be queued and retried automatically. Limited deletion and security records may remain to process retries, prevent reuse of deleted identities, and document deletion status.
Techion may use cryptographic verification to help ensure analytics requests originate from an authentic app installation. Related verification records may be retained as reasonably necessary for service integrity, fraud prevention, abuse investigation, and legal compliance. Apple separately processes information it receives through its platform services under its own privacy practices.
Backups. If you create a backup, Techion downloads selected Technitium server data to your device. A backup may contain sensitive server content or configuration, logs, statistics, authentication information, or other content you select. Backups are stored in local app storage or, if you choose iCloud, in Techion's iCloud storage. Apple processes iCloud-stored files under your Apple account and its own terms. Techion does not receive backup contents through Techion Analytics.
Purchases. Techion PRO purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. Techion receives the product, transaction, entitlement, and subscription-status information needed to provide and restore purchased features. Techion does not receive your full payment-card or bank-account details. Apple controls billing, payment processing, refunds, and related records under its own terms and privacy policy.
Diagnostics. Apple may collect and make crash or diagnostic information available to developers according to your device, privacy, and App Store settings. If Techion receives such a report, it may be used to diagnose defects, improve reliability, and provide support.
When you visit a Techion website, the hosting or content-delivery provider may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, including connection, browser, device, and request information. Techion pages may request font files from Google Fonts, which causes your browser to connect to Google and disclose ordinary request metadata to Google.
The current public policy, terms, and main information pages do not intentionally place advertising cookies or use advertising trackers. A browser, network provider, hosting provider, or linked third-party site may operate under separate settings and policies.
Techion uses information as reasonably necessary to:
Depending on the jurisdiction and context, our legal basis may be performance of a contract, your consent, compliance with a legal obligation, or Techion's legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Techion does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to serve targeted advertisements. We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:
Techion may also disclose information at your direction or with your consent, and may use or disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably identify an individual.
Local app data. Server records, preferences, cached data, and backups remain until removed by you, pruned by an app setting, reset by the app, or removed by iOS or Apple. Logging out and resetting app data have different effects. Protected credentials and iCloud files may not be removed merely by deleting the app.
Local analytics. Daily analytics summaries are designed to remain on-device for no more than 180 days. Upload processing is limited to a rolling 30-day window and may remove older local upload data. Pending uploads may be deleted after completion or may remain or complete after a reset if they have already been handed to the operating system.
Received analytics.Received summaries and derived aggregates are retained for as long as reasonably necessary for analytics, security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and operational continuity, unless a shorter period is required by law. Deletion requests remove, anonymize, or otherwise disassociate applicable analytics data from your installation. Some limited records may be retained when necessary for security, legal obligations, or to process deletion requests.
Other records. Support, transaction, legal, security, and website infrastructure records are retained for the period reasonably necessary for their purpose, applicable limitation periods, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Backup copies may persist temporarily after deletion.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, or an appeal of a privacy decision, and to receive equal service without unlawful discrimination. These rights may be subject to exceptions.
Because Techion Analytics is pseudonymous and Techion does not maintain a user account that maps the analytics identifier to your identity, we may need the identifier shown in the app and reasonable verification before acting on a request. We may be unable to locate information that cannot reasonably be linked to you. Requests may be submitted through the official contact method in the app or App Store listing.
Techion uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information within its control. Credentials are kept in protected device storage, and analytics is designed around pseudonymous identifiers and aggregate daily summaries.
No storage or transmission system is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device, Apple account, server, credentials, backups, and network configuration. Techion cannot guarantee the security of a server or connection you configure, particularly if you permit insecure TLS or an unencrypted endpoint.
Techion and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live. Where applicable law requires a transfer mechanism or safeguard, Techion will rely on an available lawful mechanism. Information you direct to your configured server is transferred to the location of that server and its providers.
The Services are intended for people capable of administering a DNS server and are not directed to children under 13. Techion does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Techion, use an official support channel so the matter can be reviewed and addressed as required by law.
Techion may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, data practices, providers, or law. The revised Policy will identify its "Last updated" date. When required by law, Techion will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect. Your continued use of the Services after an effective change is subject to the revised Policy, except where applicable law requires another form of acceptance.
For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, contact Techion LLC using the official contact information provided within the app or on Techion's App Store listing. This method is used so current contact information remains available without publishing direct LLC address information on this page.
